When I go to sleep, I’m always nightwalking. And I see other worlds and other things.

Peter Salsman is a prolific and eclectic artist living in Hayward California. His works in the last decade have garnered attention from notable collectors and celebrities. Now 68, Salsman grew up in the farming town of Gustine California, where a tragic accident as a teenager altered the course of his life. A gifted mechanic and handyman, Peter travelled California and Nevada for work, enduring exploitation for his disability and surviving on the fringes of society. Late in life and at a crossroad, Peter began his artistic practice as a lifeboat and oppurtunity to process his experiences. In this intimate portrait, the artist opens up about the spirituality and working class ethic that drives his intuitive process. (17 min)
